Since the late Taisho era, our company has been involved in the decorative processing of shikishi (poem cards) and tanzaku (poem strips). Drawing on decades of experience, we now produce goshuincho (temple stamp books), traditional Japanese notebooks (wacho), and handcrafted boxes in a variety of shapes. About the Workshop
A peaceful space filled with the scent of rush grass and natural light—perfect for a truly special experience.

Enjoy a unique hands-on experience in a calming atmosphere where the gentle scent of igusa (rush grass) fills the air. Our workshop offers an authentic "crafting" experience with a Kyoto touch, designed to help you relax and connect with tradition. We can accommodate up to 20 participants at a time. (For larger groups, please contact us in advance.) The workshop is easily accessible from Kyoto Station, the Meishin Expressway’s Kyoto Minami IC, and the Daini Keihan Road’s Kamitoba IC. Nearby attractions include the famous Toji Temple and Jonangu Shrine, so feel free to enjoy a bit of sightseeing before or after your workshop session.
Paper crafting is the art of adding beauty to “paper.” With this philosophy in mind, we named our shop “Kami Kami,” inspired by the Japanese phrase “紙加美,” which means “adding beauty to paper.”
Located on the same premises as our workshop, Kami Kami offers a selection of original washi paper items, all crafted with care and attention to detail.
Feel free to stop by and find something special to remember your visit—perfect as a souvenir or a keepsake from your time in Kyoto.
